ABSTRACT
La hemoglobina glucosilada es un examen que mide la cantidad de hemoglobina que se glucosila en la sangre, y brinda un buen estimado del control glucémico durante los últimos 3 meses en personas prediabéticas y diabéticas, por lo que habitualmente se utiliza en el monitoreo de esta enfermedad. Un comité de expertos en diabetes, formado en el año 2008, analizó la relación entre la exposición glucémica a largo plazo y las complicaciones crónicas de la diabetes mellitus, y recomienda esta prueba como una nueva herramienta diagnóstica para esta enfermedad. Glycosylated hemoglobin is an examination measuring the amount of hemoglobin glycosylated in blood and gave a good estimated of the glycemia control during the last three months in prediabetic and diabetic persons, thus, usually it is used in monitoring of this disease. An expert committee on diabetes created in 2008, analyzed the relationship between the long-term glycemia exposition and the chronic complications of diabetes mellitus, and recommended this type of test as a new diagnostic tool for this disease.
